Why Footly changed the affiliate program
Our previous model split the reward across two small percentages — 10% of subscriptions plus 5% of sales. It sounded fine on paper, but the math per referral was too small to be worth serious promotion, and the rules took a paragraph to explain.
Footly is strongest when more serious creators join, subscribe, and build real earning profiles. Agencies, creator communities, and individual creators are often the best people to introduce that kind of talent. So we replaced the two-stream model with one offer big enough to matter: half of everything a referred creator pays Footly in their first year.
The new offer
Affiliates earn 50% of every eligible Footly subscription payment a directly referred creator makes during the creator's first 12 months — the initial payment and every renewal, on monthly and yearly plans.
How the new commission works
There is now exactly one commission stream, and it is deliberately simple. A creator you refer signs up through your link, subscribes to a paid Footly plan, and you earn 50% of each payment they make during their first 12 months.
Monthly plans
50% every month
A referred creator on the $9.99/mo plan earns you about $5 every month they renew, for up to 12 months.
Yearly plans
50% up front
A referred creator who picks a $59.99/yr plan earns you $30 in a single commission.
Example: refer 25 creators who stay on $9.99/mo plans and you earn roughly $125 per month in recurring commission while their 12-month windows run. There is no cap on how many creators you can refer.
How attribution works
When someone clicks your referral link, we set a 60-day cookie. If they click more than one affiliate's link, the most recent click wins. And the moment they create a Footly account through your link, that account is permanently tied to you — every eligible subscription payment they make in their first 12 months credits your account, even if the cookie has long expired.
No downstream commissions
Footly is not adding a sub-affiliate tree. Affiliates do not earn from people their referred creators later refer. There is no parent affiliate layer, no downstream stacking, and no multi-level structure.
That choice matters. We want affiliates focused on finding good creators, helping them understand Footly, and sending them through a clean onboarding path. We do not want a program where the best strategy is recruiting more recruiters.
Direct referrals only
The affiliate program rewards direct creator referrals. If a creator you referred later refers someone else, that second creator belongs to the creator who made that direct referral.
Can individual creators use it?
Yes. This is not only for agencies. Verified Footly creators can generate their own referral link and earn under the same creator referral offer.
That is important because independent creators often know other creators who would be a good fit. If someone loves Footly, has an audience, and wants to introduce talent, the program should be easy to use without requiring a formal agency relationship.
What affiliates should and should not claim
Affiliates can talk about the actual program: 50% of eligible referred-creator subscription payments for the creator's first 12 months, direct creator referrals only. They should also be clear that results vary and commissions depend on attribution, eligibility, payout review, refunds, chargebacks, and program terms.
Affiliates should not make fake income promises, hide that they may earn a commission, imply employment by Footly, spam creators, or recruit people mainly to build a downstream referral chain.
Who this is best for
- - Agencies that already help creators pick platforms and manage onboarding.
- - Independent creators who know other creators and want a simple referral link.
- - Educators, community owners, and creator economy operators with a real creator audience.
- - Affiliates who can promote responsibly, disclose commissions, and send quality direct referrals.
The bottom line
Footly's affiliate program is now built around the part of the business that matters most: creator growth. It rewards affiliates for bringing in direct creator referrals who subscribe and stay.
The offer is simple enough to explain in one sentence and generous enough to be worth promoting: 50% of a referred creator's Footly subscription payments for their first 12 months, 60-day last-click attribution, biweekly payouts, and no downstream stacking.
