Why Footly changed the affiliate program
The old affiliate model was built around a buyer commission. That made sense early on, but it did not match how Footly actually grows or how our marketplace economics work today.
Footly is strongest when more serious creators join, subscribe, and build real earning profiles. Agencies, creator communities, and individual creators are often the best people to introduce that kind of talent. So the affiliate program now rewards the behavior that helps the platform most: bringing in direct creator referrals.
The new offer
Affiliates earn 10% recurring on referred creator subscriptions and 5% on eligible referred creator sales, as long as the referred creator remains on an active paid Footly plan.
How the new commission works
The system has two creator-focused commission streams. They are simple on purpose: one rewards creator subscription revenue, and one rewards creator sales performance.
Subscription commission
10% recurring
Paid on eligible creator subscription payments from a directly referred creator.
Creator sales commission
5% eligible sales
Paid on eligible referred creator sales while that creator remains on an active paid plan.
Example: if a referred creator stays subscribed and sells $1,000 in eligible content during a month, the creator-sales commission alone would be $50 for that month. If the creator also has a paid Footly subscription that renews, the affiliate earns 10% of that eligible subscription payment too.
Why sales commission requires an active paid creator plan
The 5% creator-sales commission is powerful, so it has to be tied to creators who are actively participating in the platform. That is why sales commission applies while the referred creator remains on an active paid Footly plan.
This keeps incentives aligned. Affiliates are rewarded for bringing in creators who subscribe, stay active, post, sell, and build real marketplace value. It also protects Footly from paying long-term commission on inactive, unpaid, or low-quality accounts.
No downstream commissions
Footly is not adding a sub-affiliate tree. Affiliates do not earn from people their referred creators later refer. There is no parent affiliate layer, no downstream stacking, and no multi-level structure.
That choice matters. We want affiliates focused on finding good creators, helping them understand Footly, and sending them through a clean onboarding path. We do not want a program where the best strategy is recruiting more recruiters.
Direct referrals only
The affiliate program rewards direct creator referrals. If a creator you referred later refers someone else, that second creator belongs to the creator who made that direct referral.
Can individual creators use it?
Yes. This is not only for agencies. Verified Footly creators can generate their own referral link and earn under the same creator referral offer.
That is important because independent creators often know other creators who would be a good fit. If someone loves Footly, has an audience, and wants to introduce talent, the program should be easy to use without requiring a formal agency relationship.
What affiliates should and should not claim
Affiliates can talk about the actual program: 10% recurring on eligible creator subscriptions, 5% on eligible creator sales, and direct creator referrals only. They should also be clear that results vary and commissions depend on attribution, eligibility, payout review, refunds, chargebacks, and program terms.
Affiliates should not make fake income promises, hide that they may earn a commission, imply employment by Footly, spam creators, or recruit people mainly to build a downstream referral chain.
